Ligstad is in need of volunteers
Many of their volunteers are senior members of the community and individuals with comorbidities.
Since the beginning of the pandemic and lockdown in its various levels, Ligstad’s volunteer programme came to a sudden stop.
Many of their volunteers are senior members of the community and individuals with comorbidities.
“It was and might still not be safe for them to actively start their duties at Ligstad,” said Alida Jooste, a social worker from Ligstad.
Ligstad thus has an urgent need for volunteers who can assist the staff with services to the children in their care at the aftercare and playgroup.
“Due to the schooling system, we accommodate the aftercare children not only in the afternoon but also during the morning when Grade One to Three learners are actively assisted with homework and Grade Four to Seven learners are supported where needed.”
With Ligstad’s staff component being halved during lockdown, an urgent call is made to the community to become involved as volunteers to assist staff members in maintaining the quality services they are proud to render for the glory of God.
“Should you have time available and are looking for an opportunity to serve, you are welcome to contact me to become a volunteer.”
