Founders of Ragdoll excited about their new charity shop

Ragdoll is an innovative shop which supports community upliftment through providing an outlet for individuals to sell their homemade arts, personal and household items.

Ragdoll is a joint project of the NPO organisations Ligstad and Dunamis, and the new upmarket charity shop (Ragdoll) will soon open its door to the public.

Management from Lemon Tree Shopping Centre reached out to the project and provided a shop space.

The Charity Shop

Ragdoll is an innovative shop which supports community upliftment through providing an outlet for individuals to sell their homemade arts, personal and household items.

“We are not your average charity shop selling old clothes. We sell new artful items and providing an income for those who need it the most,” said Lana Veldhuizen, founder of Dunamis. People can donate their homemade items or specify a church or charity to receive the income they would have got.

In need of

Items needed for the opening of Ragdoll is a shop counter, display shelves, jewellery and clothing displays, a cash register, a computer, a printer, a cellphone, a credit card machine, display tables, 3D LED shop signage, a camera system and a sanitation stand.

“We can issue a 18A certificate to those who need it,” said Lana.

Grateful hearts

“We are so thankful to the management of Lemon Tree Shopping Centre for opening their hearts. We also want to say thank you to all our other donators and also future donators. With your help, we can uplift the community of Alberton. With your help we are not only supporting local business owners but also their families,” said Lana and Alida Jooste (social worker from Ligstad).

“We will keep people updated about our opening via our social media platforms and through our local newspaper,” they said.

People who want to get involved or who wants to bring items to sell, can contact Lana on 083 401 4235 or follow Dunamis’s Facebook page or Ligstad’s Facebook page.
