27 The Brackenladies, in partnership with Lifestyle Property Group, will be hosting a Christmas party for the Uitkoms Home for Girls on November 27 from 9 am to 3pm at Fun Fishing at Rietvlei Zoo Farm. 27 Niche Community Market is a diverse group of creative sellers and food traders. The market is open every Saturday at the Walkerville showgrounds from 9am to 2pm. Stall holders sell products like honey, jams, handmade natural soaps, plants, fresh produce, aloe creams, cookies and biscuits, biltong, koeksisters, fudge and candy floss, as well as a variety of crafted goods. Fresh food vendors include Asian food, boerewors rolls, vetkoek and Indian food. Pop in at the gin bar, enjoy craft beer and ciders and just chill out. The market is pet friendly. 1 Festival of lights promises an unmissable line-up of live performances, including music, ballet, dance, Christmas carols, opera, food and night market at the Bandstand. Festivalgoers, children and adults alike, can expect an exciting and informative performance from the People’s Theatre from December 1 to 6. From December 8 to 13, audiences will enjoy contemporary and hip-hop dance from the talented Art of Dance. Be transported into a world of culture fusion by Tribhanghi Dance Company from December 15 to 20. The week of December 22 will feature the Sempre Orchestra and choir spreading the Christmas cheer. Wrapping up the festivities is the market on December 31 and January 1, followed by incredible performances from Shef and the Kitchen Music, a live-performance by Bongi Mthombeni. 4 Stepping Stone Hospice will host a tree-lighting ceremony to honour those who are no longer with us at Reading Country Club in New Redruth, Alberton on December 4. Not only is it a perfect opportunity to enjoy a picnic under starry skies with family and loved ones – you can now add your remembrance globe in celebration of your loved one at only R100. Funds raised will ensure that hope, comfort and support continue to be provided for Stepping Stone Hospice patients and families on the journey of life-limiting illnesses. Celebrations will start at 5.30pm with entertainment and the traditional carols by candelight. Pancakes, boerierolls, popcorn and drinks will be on sale. The actual lighting of the tree will take place at 7.45pm (weather permitting) when hundreds of globes light up with a soft radiance. The tree will shine throughout December. 12 Stained glass workshop will take place in the tranquil settings of Henley on Klip on December 12 Come and enjoy a morning or afternoon with your friends and learn a little about stained glass work. Workshops last about three to four hours and you will complete a sun catcher, which is yours to keep. All tools and materials provided, as well as instruction. Workshops are aimed at people who want to try their hand at stained glass before committing to buying equipment and glass, and to those who only want a little fun.
