Newly established athletics club in Alberton
Pacing through the athletic season.
The newly established athletics club in Alberton, Pacers, has kicked off their season in great style with a first meeting.
The club is situated at Alberton High School.
Makhosonke Mahlangu (15), from Alberton High School, took part in the long jump for boys and recorded a distance of 6.13m for first place.
Karabo Langa participated in the 100m and 400m and respectively came second and third. Parents are encouraged to send their children to train at the club throughout the year. The club boasts 38 athletes at this stage.
Training days are from Mondays to Thursdays from 3 pm to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 10 am.
Lucky Those is the head coach and holds a level two coaching certificate. He trains sprinting and long-distance events. The club also benefits from the services of Bongiwe Mhlango, who is a personal trainer.
