City of Johannesburg congratulates executive mayor of Joburg on academic achievement

The City and its administration wishes the executive mayor well and once again extends its congratulations to him on this significant achievement.

The City of Johannesburg extends a congratulatory message to the executive mayor, Geoffrey Makhubo, on attaining a Masters of Science (MSc) in finance (economic policy) from the London School of Economics.

This makes it his second Master’s degree.

In 2020, the executive mayor obtained his first Master’s degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in public and development management.

“In a fast-changing and globalised world, it is important for public officials to continuously update their skills and knowledge to meet the needs and demands of their time,” said MMC Loyiso Masuku, leader of executive business in the City.

“We are inspired and have no doubt that this achievement will enhance the executive mayor’s leadership role and assist the City respond to the complex challenges we confront in pursuit of building this world-class African city,” said Masuku
