Alberton High welcomes new staff to the family

Alberton High School is excited to welcome five of its new staff members to the academic team for 2021.

As schools reopen on February 15, learners will finally meet new faces who recently joined the school.

Jannie Olivier, the school principal, said he is enthusiastic about having the new staff as part of ‘The Blues’. He also acknowledged their contribution to the continued success and excellence of the school.

The newly appointed staff include mathematics teachers Nadia Rodrigues and Natacha de Kock and information technology teacher Jacques Potgieter.

They are joined by Refilwe Thindisa, who is an English home-language teacher, and Mariska Brits, who teaches Afrikaans first additional language.

Rodrigues said: “A new year means new possibilities along with the start of a career. Teaching at Alberton High School does not only mean the start of a new and exciting chapter in my life but also the start of new lessons and successes.”

Brits said joining the school means more than just securing employment.

“I’m looking forward to meeting new challenges, building good relationships with my colleagues and most of all teaching my learners to the best of my ability,” said Brits.

De Kock said she was excited to teach what she loves and hopes to inspire learners to have the same outlook on mathematics.

Thindisa shared their sentiments and described herself as a passionate and creative teacher who loves to discover and develop the potential within learners holistically.
