Nkosinathi Sikhonde is tops
Calvary Christian College received 100 per cent pass rate.
Their top achiever is Nkosinathi Sikhonde with five distinctions.
Nkosinathi said, “My matric year was really challenging. Nobody expected a pandemic to arrive unexpectedly and uninvited and disrupt our whole year. When lockdown started, I had so many fears because I thought we wouldn’t finish our syllabus in time. I actually thought we wouldn’t write our final exams.
“We had to adjust to online learning. It’s different: your whole four-walled classroom put into a four-cornered computer screen.
Waking up to look at a computer screen for six hours is no fun, but I had to get used to it because there was a lot of work to be done. Since there was a lot of work, I had to put a tremendous amount of effort into it. However, it was all worth it in the end.
“My parents were considerate and were very supportive, and I appreciate them for that. I got five distinctions and I plan on studying actuarial science at the University of the Witwatersrand.
“Just a word of encouragement to the matrics of 2021. No matter how bad things may seem around you, if you set your mind to achieving something, you will. Work hard, sacrifice and you’ll reap the rewards.”
