Place A Pup Foster Foundation rescues puppies and searches for their perfect homes
Jessica Dias is the owner of Place A Pup Foster Foundation. She started this organisation because she felt the voiceless needed more voices.
Her volunteers and foster parents are from all around Gauteng and they all have the same mission: to rescue puppies and find their perfect homes.
One of the directors of Place A Pup Foster Foundation is Damian Ray, who is from Glenvista.
How it all started

“While at work one morning, I received a call regarding a pup that needed serious help. I could not say no so I took the pup in,” Jessica said.
She was part of a rescue organisation for nine years before.
“This pup had severe mange and was very sick, but with sleepless nights and good vet care, the pup made it. The puppy received vaccinations and tick and flea treatment. He was dewormed and sterilised. After all this, I made sure to find him a perfect home with people who will take care of him and love him.”
Place a Pup

“We take in any pup from anywhere at any time. We pride ourselves on not caging any of our pups but rather bringing them up in foster homes where they sleep indoors and experience life in their foster homes just the way they would when they are adopted, thus making the transition from a foster home to their permanent home a smooth one,” Jessica explained.
Their foster parents are trained in basic obedience, basic medical care and are assisted in every way needed.
Place A Pup Foster Foundation supplies their fosters with food and pays for all veterinary bills while the pups are in foster care.
“We rely solely on donations to help fund our rescues.”
Jessica said they assisted shelters with puppies they have rescued. We have rescued a lot of puppies from Diepsloot, Krugersdorp, Springs, south of Johannesburg, Alberton and Vanderbijlpark.
Place A Pup Foster Foundation is open 24 hours to any pup in need and always has space.
“We are hoping to expand by getting our own vehicle and property to start our own sanctuary with a twist, which means no cages. Our dream is to stop breeding and therefore we focus on sterilising and vaccinating. Most unvaccinated puppies don’t make it to sterilisation as they usually die from diseases, which are extremely painful and avoidable.
“We offer reduced rate vaccinations, microchips and sterilisation to the public and we urge every public member to take advantage of this during these tough these times.”
Fostering

Place A Pup Foster Foundation is made up of amazing, caring and loving foster moms and dads who also feel there is always space for just one more puppy.
“We love each puppy like our own and each pup is our own until the day they are adopted. We will assist our pups no matter what and where they are.”
According to Jessica, they experienced a lot of heartbreaking moments, but they also saw many miracles.
“None of what we do would be possible without the donations we receive from the public as well as the support from our fosters, but most of all from God. I believe what we have done so far is just a drop in the ocean with what we still need to do,” she said.
