Glenvista teacher uplifts children to have a brighter future
The life coach and mathematics and physical science teacher has always been passionate about children.
Life coach and mathematics and physical science tutor Nthabiseng Moeng (46) from Glenvista has always been passionate about children.
The mother of three, who has 18 years of experience teaching at local schools and FET colleges, said she has always known she was a builder when it came to the youth’s future.
“I just like seeing people achieve, especially with the learners I tutor. I aim to educate them to better our country. I want them to be our future leaders,” she said.
She told the CHRONICLE she is running a tutorial programme called Be Bold that also offers final-year university students an opportunity to play their part in the community by helping to tutor Grade Seven to Grade 12 learners in crucial subjects, such as mathematics, physics, accounting, English and life science.
“I want to give them the experience they need to kickstart their career. The employment rate in our country is crucial. I intend to start building them while they are still looking for jobs,” she said.

So far, she has fourth-year medical students tutoring physics at university level to bridge the gap between government and private school education system.
“Through one-on-one personalised tutoring, this programme aims at helping the high school learner to best study and retain information according to their strengths and levels of absorbing.”
Moeng also encourages the youth to take mathematics and physics. She wants them to not fear taking these subjects because it will help them.
“We have experienced the pandemic but when it comes to our education systems, we should not lose faith. That is why I always encourage tutoring. What we need to do as parents is to find ways of enhancing and enriching our children with more assistance. I am here to bring out the best in them, motivate them, believe in them and make them realise they can do it,” she said.
“There are benefits to mathematics like problem-solving, effective-thinking, knowing and respecting time. I want them not to be scared of the future. I want to encourage parents to guide and also make them believe in themselves, that they are going to make it,” Moeng said.
She is also a life and business coach and offers learners life skills as she motivates, encourages, boosts their confidence and supports them through various life, business and entrepreneurial challenges.
