Goodies for the little ones at South Rand Hospital
The campaign began in 1997 and it aims to mobilise all sectors of society to ensure that children and cared for and protected.
To commemoration Child Protection Week, over 45 packs of soft toys, blankets and warm clothes were distributed to mothers and babies at the South Rand Hospital’s maternity ward on June 1.
Child Protection Week is an event that is commemorated annually from May 28 to June 5.
Hospital’s spokesperson Phafudi Molapo said this is a time where all agencies involved in child protection remind families about the role to protect children.
“This year South Rand Hospital embarked on the awareness from the May 31. An information session was provided to women at the antenatal clinic about placement options for children, which included kinship and foster care and also adoption.
“Soft toys and warm clothes items, including blankets, were distributed to mothers and babies at the maternity and paediatric wards and the paediatric outpatient department,” he said.
