Murder mystery in Spruitview

Masondo told the media that police were conducting routine patrols when they noticed a car parked in the middle of Brickfield Road in Vosloorus at about 24:05.

While there has been no comment from the local SAPS in Kathorus about the mysterious killing of a senior provincial government official in Spruitview in the early hours of June 6, it is reported the police are investigating a case of murder.

According to the Gauteng police spokesperson Capt Mavela Masondo, details of Teboho Makhoa’s (52) death were still sketchy at the time of going to press, Kathorus MAIL was able to gather that the senior government official in the Gauteng’s Human Settlement Department was gunned down under mysterious circumstances.

His bullet-riddled body was found slumped inside his black Mercedes Benz sedan.

Masondo told the media that police were conducting routine patrols when they noticed a car parked in the middle of Brickfield Road in Vosloorus at about 24:05.

“In the driver’s seat, the police found a man with gunshot wounds. The car had bullet holes on the side of the driver. Paramedics were called and the victim was certified dead,” Masondo said.

Masondo told the media that the motive for the murder of the official could not be confirmed by the police.
The department expressed its shock at the senseless gangland-style killing.

The spokesperson for the department Tahir Sema called to the authorities for a quick apprehension of those responsible.

“Great shock about the senseless killing of one of our officials based in our Ekurhuleni regional office. Makhoa was brutally murdered when 28 shots were fired at his vehicle.

“We are calling on all law enforcement agencies to apprehend the killers. We also are calling on the community to refrain from spreading any rumours and misinformation.”

Sema described Makhoa as a tireless worker in the allocation of RDP houses to the rightful beneficiaries in the region.
