ActionSA takes action to assist at Gleneska Old Age Home

Assisting an elderly man from Glenenska Old Age Home.

Running candidate for Ward 124 Sello Mabelebele from ActionSA received a complaint that the Gleneska Old Age Home was abandoned.

“We went in to check and it did not look good. We took it upon ourselves to start the work. We cleaned and cut the grass,” said Mabelebele.

One of the biggest complaints at the old age home was that the place was not well-managed.

“We discovered a resident who just recently moved into the old age home had absolutely nothing to his name. We saw the need to help the man with whatever we could,” he said.

A stove was also donated.

Mabelebele said it was a bad situation and at some point he had to take out money from his own pockets.

“I decided to reach out to other councillors to assist with this matter and my colleague from Ward 23, Sarah Wissler, asked her community to assist, and they came through.

“They donated a bed, food parcels, stove and other essentials. Assisting this elderly man meant a lot to me. We will be getting more things for him through word of mouth,” Mabelebele said.

He said they will be doing the best they can to assist the residents. If residents want to help contact Mabelebele on 083 261 7716.

Joan Harries was thankful for the stove.
Essential materials also donated.
