Pre-season practise match goes Quins’ way
Training for Seniors has been amended from the existing Sunday slot to Wednesdays and Fridays commencing at 4pm.
UMBILO Harlequins’ first cricket team was engaged in a pre-season practise match against an invitational side from Newlands East and Kensea on Sunday, 22 September.
Seamer Warren Jordan bowled immaculately to claim five wickets. Paceman Sylvester Sauli sustained an injury to his hamstring muscle and as a result, was a little wayward with direction.
The opposition were dismissed for a well below par score on a sticky wicket due to rain. Quins lost quite a number of wickets in their successful attempt to win the match, which provided an ideal opportunity to gauge the skills of newly-acquired players.
The first team take on Verulam Cricket Club’s first side at Verulam on Sunday, 29 September.
Training for seniors has been amended from the existing Sunday slot to Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 4pm, due to the start of league matches. A club meeting will be held at the usual venue at 6pm on Thursday, 26 September. All members are welcome to attend.
