Spar Superstars SLS 2026

GRADE 3 learner, Kade Ganesh, is nominated for his memory and spelling skills after he placed first in his grade at the school’s spelling bee competition. He also qualified to represent the school at the district spelling bee and elocution contest in Umlazi.

GRADE R learner, Teleah Weilbach, is being nominated as a SPAR superstar for placing third in the district elocution contest. The learner managed to secure a podium finish in the poetry division. The elocution contest tests how well you express yourself.

FARRELL Short is a Grade 6 learner who is recognised for his skills on the soccer pitch. Short was selected to play for the KwaZulu-Natal Invitational Primary School Soccer Association (KZNIPSSA). Short also plays for Wentworth Warriors.

ANELISA Gumede is nominated for placing second in the district quiz competition. The Grade 7 learner, representing Merebank Library, was quizzed on two different South African books. Gumede is one of two learners advancing to the regional quiz competition.

NATALIA Boshe, a Grade 11 learner, was selected among the top 12 finalists in the UKZN Africa Poetry Festival. Boshe’s poems center around challenging stereotypes, highlighting societal issues and giving a voice to her community in Clairwood.

TRISTAN Williams is being nominated after placing second in his age category at the recent Merewent 15km run and fun walk. The Grade 9 learner took on his first ever 15km and was able to secure a podium finish. He also plays a variety of sports.

KAYDE Parker is being nominated for his selection to travel to England as part of an international school football tour and compete in the Friendship Cup Football Festival. The Grade 8 learner fell in love with football at five-years-old.

MPILENHLE Nzuza, Grade 9, is making strides in the women’s football division. Nzuza recently took part in KZN soccer trials, where she was selected for the U14A side. The learner will begin to tour with her team during the September school holidays.
