SPCA open day highlights abuse
A variety of activities for the whole family at animal welfare organisation's open day.

THE public is urged to support Amanzimtoti SPCA’s open day on Saturday, 12 April at its premises at 1 Nyathi Road, Athlone Park.
Go along and find out more about the work of the organisation, which plays an integral part in the welfare of animals.
The day kicks off at 8.30am and goes on until noon. Take the family along and enjoy a variety of activities. There will be face painting, a jumping castle and an Easter Egg hunt for the children.
Browse in the various shops for books and other items, there will be plants on sale and informative demonstrations.
If you are thinking of adding a four-legged friend to your family, it is an opportunity to view the dogs and cats up for adoption. After shopping, relax and enjoy a bacon and egg roll or tea and cake
As April is Prevention of Cruelty of Animal Month internationally, the organisation’s Facebook page: SPCA Amanzimtoti will be orange, the colour chosen this year to focus on and encourage people to report cases of animal abuse.
The SPCA appreciates the public’s help, whether it is cash or goods donations. The organisation has in its care, sick and injured animals. Unfortunately as it does not have its own vet, it uses the services of private vets.
It also requires a consistent supply of food, as at any given time it has between 40 and 60 dogs and puppies and 30 and 50 cats and kittens in its care. It also requires various items such as hosepipes, industrial can openers, dog leashes, collars and many more to run more efficiently.
If anyone wants to donate items, contact them on 031-904-2424 and ask if anything specific is needed or email pro@spcatoti.co.za or info@spcatoti.co.za. Alternatively donations can be deposited in its bank account: Standard Bank Prospecton branch, account name Amanzimtoti SPCA, account number 053-211-189, branch code 057-827.
