Foreigners nabbed with house-breaking implements

Four men were arrested on the Bluff in a stolen car, with house-breaking tools.

FOUR foreigners were arrested on the Bluff, in possession of house-breaking implements and a stolen vehicle, yesterday, 23 April.

Sergeant Robert Jooste was on patrol on Lighthouse Road when he noticed four men in a Honda Ballade acting suspiciously. The officer called radio control, who confirmed the number plates were fake.

When asked by Sgt Jooste to pull the vehicle to the side of the road, the driver sped away. Sgt Jooste called for back-up and was joined by W/Os Theo Van Noordwyk, Robert Dean and Anton van der Merwe from operational support.

The chase led to Solomon Mahlangu Drive (Edwin Swales VC), where the car was cornered. A search of the men and the vehicle revealed housebreaking gear, including a crowbar and hacksaw and that the chassis, engine number and number plate did not correlate.

They were arrested for being in possession of housebreaking implements and a suspected stolen vehicle. Further investigations have revealed that they were undocumented foreign nationals.

Brighton Beach SAP management commends the members for the arrests and recovery of the stolen vehicle.
