Hijacked Montlands cars recovered

Cars recovered within 48 hours.

THREE hijacked vehicles were recovered in separate incidents on Monday, 21 April and Tuesday, 22 April.

Two armed men made off with a Toyota Hi-Ace in Doddington Crescent on Monday evening, 21 April. The men daringly jumped into the vehicle while it was moving and threw the driver out before fleeing in the direction of Nyakanyaka. Although the vehicle was not fitted with a tracking system, it was recovered by Metro Police the following day in Folweni township.

Two vehicles were hijacked in Pemberton and Pendlebury roads on Tuesday, 22 April. A VW Polo was taken by three armed men from Pemberton Road, Montclair at about 3pm. A woman and her friend were fetching a child from pre-school when they were set upon by the men. The men pointed a gun at them and demanded the keys, before speeding off with the vehicle. Fortunately, the vehicle was recovered through the aid of a tracking device later that evening in Umlazi’s D section.

In another armed hijacking the same afternoon, a man and his wife were attacked by a gun-wielding man who took off with their Toyota Run-X. The husband was fetching his wife in Pendlebury Road, Mobeni when they were attacked. The woman was pulled out of the car and thrown onto the ground the moment she entered the vehicle. The assailant fired a shot into the air and pointed his weapon at the driver. He was forced out of the vehicle and the assailant took off.

The vehicle was recovered the same day in Gwala Street, Lamontville.
