TWO men, aged 20 and 32 were arrested and charged with business burglary after they were caught by a security guard with six boxes of cigarettes in Leicester Road, Mobeni on Monday, 5 May.
The men had broken into a warehouse and tried to make off with filter cigarettes valued at R10,000 when they were arrested by the guard. With the men firmly in their clutches, the security guard and his colleague alerted Montclair SAP.
After they were arrested, Montclair SAP led a search at one the men’s homes, leading to the recovery of more stolen cigarettes.
Montclair SAP’s communications officer, Lt Leopold Jojozi said: “There has been a spate of business robberies where cigarettes and cash was taken. We believe the men will be linked to most of these cases as the same modus operandi was used.”
Police are investigating further.
