Alert guard nets man with illegal gun
30-year-old man may be linked to cases of business robbery.
ANOTHER man may be linked to the spate of business robberies in the area, where assailants have stolen cash, airtime and boxes of cigarettes.
This comes after a 30-year-old man was arrested in Leicester Road, Mobeni on Monday, 12 May. The man was found on a business property by a security guard who was patrolling the perimeter. When the guard questioned him, he said he had lost his train ticket and was on the property to sleep.
The guard searched the man and found an automatic pistol near his hip, along with airtime and cash. Montclair SAP were called to the scene and arrested the man. He was charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He appeared in Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 14 May.
Police are investigating a possible connection to business robberies.
