VIDEO and UPDATE: Bomb detonated at Jacobs scrap dealer

A 91mm live anti-tank projectile, that was discovered at a scrap metal dealer in Jacobs yesterday was safely detonated by police.
According to Brighton Beach SAP communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux, the bomb, which resembled a mortar was found among scrap metal deposited in a ferrous yard.
Brighton Beach SAP, Durban K9-Metro and the Durban Explosives Unit (DEU) attended the scene, evacuating the area and securing the scene.
DEU acting commander, Captain NCGunther confirmed it as a 91mm live anti-tank projectile and bomb technician, Warrant Officer Morné Mathysen safely detonated it on site, with no injuries or damage to property.

The bomb was safely detonated.
An enquiry has been opened at Brighton Beach police station to determine where the bomb came from.
