SA’s Scheepers bows out to world number one
Lightning almost strikes twice for Rosol.
SOUTH Africa’s Chanelle Scheepers had a tough time on the court as she faced world number one, Serena Williams in round two match at the Wimbledon grand slam tournament at the All England Club in London.
Scheepers, who is ranked number 37 in the world, went down in straight sets, both 6-1, which subsequently led to her exit out of the tournament. Her best career performance was in the French Open in 2010 where she made it into the fourth round. Follow her on Twitter @ChaniScheepers and track her progress as she climbs the WTA ladder.
In other Wimbledon news, Rafael Nadal almost went down in flames as he was nearly made to bow out of the tournament by Lukas Rosol, who took the lead in the first set. In what almost looked like a repeat of the 2012 tournament, where Rosol stunned the tennis world beating Nadal in the same round, lightning didn’t strike twice for the Czech player. Nadal clawed his way back and clinched the second set, showing no signs of faltering. He went on to win the match 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-4, 6-4,
