Robbers pose threat to pedestrians

Three armed men attack pedestrian.

ALTHOUGH there has been a decrease in major crime in Montclair SAP’s patrolling area, a group of robbers have been doing the rounds.

On Tuesday, 24 June, three knife-wielding men attacked a pedestrian in Glanville Road, Woodlands. He tried to defend himself from the robbers, but they cut his hand. The assailants made off with his wallet containing his money.

A motorist was robbed of belongings valued at over R23,000 at Higginson Highway on Friday morning, 27 June. While the driver was stationary at the robot, three men approached the vehicle. One of them smashed a window with a brick. They took a bag which contained a cellphone, laptop and cash.

In another incident, a robber who used a bottle as his weapon, chased after a pedestrian in Alphen Road, Montclair on Sunday evening, 29 June. The pedestrian was approached by the bottle-wielding man, who demanded his cellphone. In an attempt to avoid being a victim of crime, the man fled. The assailant gave chase and caught the man and made off with his cellphone.
