Steep rise in fuel prices tonight

YET another petrol price increase is to hit motorists’ pockets hard – and it takes effect from midnight tonight.

South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, determined by international and local factors.

The latest increase  is due to the rise in the price of crude oil, which peaked at above 115 US Dollars per barrel,  and the depreciation of the Rand/ Dollar exchange rate from $10.40 to $10.68  during the period under review.

The fuel prices will be adjusted as follows:

1. Diesel will increase by 14.0 cents/ litre
2. Illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) will increase by 31.0 cents/litre
3. Petrol (93 ULP and LRP) will increase by 29.0 cents/litre.
4. Petrol (95 ULP and LRP) will increase by 31.0 cents/litre.
5. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will increase by 58.0 cents/kilogram

The Department of Energy urges motorists to try and save fuel by using public transport and organising lift clubs.
