Save lives on Mandela Day

Make a difference by donating blood.

THE global community will celebrate Mandela Day on Friday, 18 July, a day in which citizens the world over are called on to give 67 minutes of their time to making a difference in the communities in which they live.

In support of this, the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) calls on the public to make a difference by donating blood. The objective of the campaign is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world and the lives of others for the better.

Blood donation is one of the simplest ways to make a difference to the lives of others and it is something you can continue to do every 56 days, a sustainable action to make a difference to the lives of others. The message is simple for Mandela Month, that each individual has the ability and responsibility to impact positive change every day. Pledge your commitment to this cause today and continue making a difference to the lives of others.

To become a blood donor you must be:

• Between the ages of 16-65 years old.

• Weigh more than 50kg.

• Have eaten a good meal before donating.

• Lead a sexually safe lifestyle.

• Be healthy on the day of donation.

For more information, visit www.sanbs.org.za or call 0800-11-9031. SMS your name and postal code to 31454 to find your nearest donor centre.
