Copper thieves nabbed

Wentworth police arrest two men for theft of copper cables.

TWO copper thieves were caught in the act by vigilant Wentworth police officers in Richard Winn Road.

While on patrol in Richard Winn Road, Sergeant Craig Brigetta and Constable Thandi Ndlovu heard a suspicious sound of angle grinders coming from behind one of the houses. The officers went in search of the source of the noise and found two men cutting copper cables. They had with them an assortment of electrical tools and copper, estimated at a value of R8,000.

The men were arrested for possession of property suspected to be stolen and informed the police they had been hired by three men to clean the copper.
