SICELO Austin Khumbaca was handed a 10 year suspended sentence for his part in a hijacking by Durban Regional Court recently.
Khumbaca was one half of the armed duo which made off with a silver VW Polo in South Coast, Clairwood on Friday, 10 January. The owner of the vehicle was parked at the side of the road, waiting for someone, when the duo approached him and made off with his vehicle.
Fortunately for the owner, the vehicle was later recovered in Umlazi. Investigations by Montclair SAP officers led to Khumbaca’s arrest on Monday, 20 January. He received a 10 year sentence, suspended for five years on the charges of hijacking and robbery. His accomplice has not yet been found.
