Glen Road cable thieves’ plans scuppered

It seems the road is a hotspot as cables have already been replaced three times this year.

RESIDENTS of Glen Road, Montclair have once again had to endure cold showers in the morning as cable thieves struck twice in as many weeks, resulting in power outages.

At about 3am on Monday, 21 July, residents of Glen Road were awoken by an alarm which subsequently disturbed thieves who were hoping to make off with about 200 metres of cables.

“One of the neighbours saw the men and pressed the panic button. We all came out to see what was happening. As I walked out of my house, I saw a man on a pole. He quickly climbed down and fled. I think he had two accomplices, as I saw three of them flee. Park Patrol responded quickly and chased after the men but they disappeared,” said resident, Quenton Gillham.

Gillham thanks Park Patrol for their speedy response.

It seems the road is a hotspot as cables have already been replaced three times this year. At 12pm, municipal workers were working to reconnect the electricity.
