Wanderers BC novices urged to consider weekly pairs
Last Friday Mark Barnard missed out on the R1,300 snowball when he was not present for the draw.

IN another slow week at Wanderers Bowling Club, the only activity was the progression of the men’s nominated pairs.
First round results not reported last week include the following matches: Lofty Cawthorne and Eric Smit beat Steve van Rooyen and Bob Hayward 23-5, Richard Hendicott and Rob Atkinson beat Ron Jackson and Phil Pieterse 26-12, Andy Andraschko and Pieter Coetzer beat Chris Klopper and Derek Stevens 27-13. In second round matches Richard and Rob beat Robbie and Shaun 27-19, Andy and Pieter beat Chris and Kim 24-19.
Steve van Rooyen was the club representative for the men in the Champion of Champions played at Lahee Park over the weekend. In his first match, he beat Bluff’s Clinton Bissett 21-6 then lost by a single shot (20-21) to Bruce Makkink.
An item of potential interest, especially for novice bowlers is that from 23 August, Stella Park will be hosting a novice pairs tournament every Saturday starting at 10am. Wanderers’ novices should be advised of this and encouraged to participate. For further enquiries contact Trevor Varkevisser on 082-451-6566.
