Bluff fire victim (83) dies

She sustained second and third degree burns to her hands arms and face.

The 83-year-old woman who was rescued from a house fire on the Bluff a week ago, died last night (Thursday, 21 August).

Mrs Mbhele was trapped in her home in Kiora Road. Two men managed to free her from the fire. She sustained second and third degree burns to her hands arms and face.

On Wednesday, 20 August Mrs Mbhele’s family were called to the hospital after her heart rate dropped dramatically.

“The last week has been very challenging for the family as there were indications that her condition was improving, but sadly this evening the hospital confirmed that she had died,” said Brighton Beach SAP communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux.
