Lyn Wilds pairs goes to Wild, Richardson
Club competitions proceeded nicely during the week and on Saturday.

IN Wednesday’s Lyn Wilds pairs at Wanderers Bowling Club it was fitting that the husband of the late Lyn Wild, Keith, took the main prize with his partner William Richardson with the score of 4 + 17.
Lofty Cawthorne and Len Roscoe finished in second place with 4 + 14.
Lofty also won R20 in the 60/40 board draw with the R40 going the way of Gerrie Jackson. Father and son Raj and Russell Rangiah took the first session with 2 + 14 and Gloria Rice and Linda Hewer won the second session on a count-out from Bob Hayward and Eric Smit. Dennis Gericke won the meat raffle and there were no takers for the lotto which will be another carry over.
Club competitions proceeded nicely during the week and on Saturday. In the men’s senior singles Derek Stevens beat Eric Kitchenbrand 21-7, Chris Klopper clopped Errol Pienaar 21-3, Russell Shepherd despatched Ken Thomas 21-13, Kim Hawkins beat Ronnie Jackson 21-10, Dennis Gericke got a walkover from Andy Andraschko who withdrew owing to the fact that he will be departing these shores within the week, Lofty Cawthorne beat Eric Smit 21-16, Bob Hayward beat Clive Symons 21-12, then in the second round Bob beat Dave Faifer 21-17.
In the men’s nominated pairs Dennis Gericke and Mike Freeman beat Anthony Carr and Tommy Simpkins 21-12. Two women’s drawn trips matches were played. Gerrie Jackson, Heather Beselaar and Margaret Kitchenbrand beat Joan Bruce, Mary Rust and Val McCaffrey 18-12. In the other match Lorinne Hawkins, Jo-Anne Jordaan and Anne Smit beat Lorraine Du Preez, Gwen Tait and Lorraine Smith with the same score of 18-12.
The women are to note that the semi final of the women’s pairs is carded to be played on or before 13 September. Call competition secretary Margaret Kitchenbrand on 076-729-6242. All players are to note that the entry form is up for the PNB fours. Let’s have a good entry.
In an outside competition, the Wanderers team of Richard Hendicott, Jeff Bolt, Nicola and Charles Bauristhene pulled off the main prize at Hillary on Saturday to win not only R1,000 each but to stake claim to the McMillan memorial trophy.
Last Friday’s various meat pack winners were: Mutton pack Mitch Mitchley, chicken fillet bake and burger patties Eddy Bailey, chicken pack Jackie Freeman, rump steak Eric and Anne Smit, pork ribs Mark Jackson, chicken Leon Hauptfleisch.
The R500 snowball was not won as Brian English was not present.
On Tuesday, 26 August, the bowls section is hosting a farewell cocktail party for Andy and Brenda Andraschko from 6pm until 9pm. Eric ‘Reds’ will be playing music. All bowlers and friends are welcome to join in to say farewell to two good friends who are leaving our shores.
On Friday, 29 August go and watch the unbeaten Sharks entertain the Pumas live with sound on both TV’s directly after the snowball and raffle at 7pm. After the game the ‘Memory Stick’ will reappear for your dancing pleasure.
The men’s drawn fours are carded to be played on Saturday, 30 August.
