Bill, Dave claim Howe’s your father bowls spoils at Wentworth BC

Ellen Loots won the whisky raffle and Brian Osmond is grilling the pork and Dave Vincent the beef.

WENTWORTH Bowling Club had a busy week.

Results for the Howe’s ur Fatha played on Wednesday, 27 August saw first session taken by Bill Addinal and Dave Carrol with + 16, while second session went to Ken Thomas and Bob Hayward with + 12.

Overall winners were Julie Sutherland and Amanda Ninow with 4 + 27. The 60/40 board was won by Ina Davies and Steve Evenwell and the meat raffle went to Robbie Carr. Scottish Leader whisky went to Graham Bransby and the Scottish Leader caps were won by Steve Evenwell and Derek Stevens. The next Howe’s ur Fatha will be on Wednesday, 24 September.

In family and friends fun bowls played on Wednesday, 27 August, the prize was won by Johnny du Plessis and Koekie Koekemoer and the 60/40 was taken by Ann Bothrone and Linda Locker.

The Rawsons breakfast trips played on 28 August saw first prize go to Spider Williams, Wayne Smith and Robin DeGouveia with 4 + 11 and Dave Roux, Kurt and Dawn Spack took the second prize with 4 + 12. The second session prize went to Norman Moore, Phil Pieterse and Claud Newman. Ellen Loots won the whisky raffle and Brian Osmond is grilling the pork and Dave Vincent the beef. The first 60/40 board was taken by Robin DeGouveia and Dave Vincent and the second board was won by Michelle Nortje and Maria Cavanagh.

The men’s Friday casual bowls played on Friday, 29 August saw first prize won by Colin Coetzee, Dave Carrol and Smiler Wilesmith with + 27. Second prize went to Brian King, Joe McNammarra and Brian Holliss with +13. Gerald Castor Royle, Steve Evenwell and Brian Deats took the sportsman prize. The pork raffle was won by Dorro Dorrofield and Krystal Aupaix won the beef. The 60/40 board was won by Allen Ritchie and Greg McGuinness and the whisky was won by Graham Bransby.

A reminder that the draw is on the board for members playing the PNB nominated pairs, starting Sunday, 7 September. Club nominated pairs and Roley Taylor pairs must be played by 15 September, so arrange and play your games.

There is a night market at the club on Friday, 5 September. Call Zonia on 083-729-8934 to book a table and support. The bar and kitchen will be open for refreshments.

Events for the next week:

On Tuesday, 2 September there is Bare Feet Bowls at 3.30pm, dress is casual and bowls are provided.

On Wednesday, 3 September the family and friends fun bowls starts at 3pm. All new bowlers are welcome. Take along flat sole shoes, bowls are available. There is a bring and braai afterwards. Bring a salad to share.

On Thursday, 4 September Bare Feet Bowls at 3.30pm, casual and bowls are provided.

On Friday, 5 September Mens casual bowls at 9am.

The kitchen is open daily from Tuesdays until Sundays from 8am until 6pm. Breakfast, bar lunches and Sunday lunches are served. Call Ina Davies on 082-768-4644.
