A fire gutted a home in Chandler Crescent on Saturday, 6 September.
eThekwini Fire Department from the Toti base responded to a call at about 1.40pm. When they arrived on the scene, fire fighters found the fire had already burnt through the roof. Four rooms and the kitchen were gutted. Fire fighters managed to stop the fire spreading to the main bedroom. “According to the homeowner, a possible cause of the fire could be an electrical fault in one of the children’s bedrooms. There were no injuries,” said Toti Fire division commander, Kevin Lindsay.
Two children affected by the fire attend New Forest High School. The school will replace the pupil’s school books and uniforms. “As a school we would like to replenish materials that were lost,” said deputy principal, Linda Shezi.
