Baby among six hurt in three car pile-up
One patient was found entrapped in the wreckage.
SIX people including a nine-month-old baby were injured in a three car pile-up at the corner of Tara and Amoora roads, Wentworth on Sunday, 26 October at about 8.30pm.
“Rescue Care paramedics found the entire roadway obstructed by the three vehicles involved. One patient was found entrapped in the wreckage and Durban Fire department was called to assist. Once she had been freed from the vehicle using the jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment, she was carefully immobilised onto a specialised board to prevent any further injury.
A further five people including a nine-month-old had also sustained injuries as a result of the collision,” said operations director, Garrith Jamieson. The injured were stabilised and transported to hospital.
The cause of the accident is unknown and police are investigating.
