PARALLEL to the Conference of the Parties 20 (COP 20) in Peru, the South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) will host a community and youth rally from 8 to 11 December.
Like the presidents of various countries, who will attend COP 20 to negotiate for a global climate agreement, SDCEA and others will meet to discuss climate change and other global environmental causes.
“Something has to be done to remedy the situation in an attempt to preserve a healthy environment for future generations. Should the temperature rise more than one degree Celsius, temperatures will become unbearable,” said SDCEA communications and project officer, Noluthando Mbeje.
Various discussions and activities, including a toxic tour will take place, including a conference call with people at COP 20 to hear about the decisions being made.
The rally, which will play host to hundreds of people, will take place from 9am to 3pm at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Shepstone 1.
