Truck ploughs into car, kills one
The car had four occupants, two of whom were entrapped
A car passenger died in a collision with a truck at around 3am on Christmas Eve, 24 December at the N2 and M7 intersection.
Paramedics say the truck lost control and veered across the centre median and the westbound carriageway. It did not collide with any other vehicle. Rescue Care paramedics found the car had four occupants, two of whom were entrapped. The fire department used the jaws of life and other hydraulic equipment to free them. One passenger sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
The driver and two others sustained serious injuries and were stabilised by advanced life support paramedics before being transported to hospital.
It is unclear what caused the collision, however police were on the scene.
