BLUFF Bowling Club’s June Foster/Eddie Human 3-2-1 killer was played on Friday, 6 February with a good field of 22 teams.
Hilliary boys Ron Farnham and Nolan Openshaw were the cream of the crop and signed for a very good half century on 4+50.
George Harris and Dave Vincent scooped the first session with 2+20 and mirroring that score, Allan Moor and Brian King claimed the second session. George Harris was the top chalk man, scoring 11 touches with Brian Osman and Dave Lavis being the sportsmen of the day.
Jumbo Nel needs mint sauce to go with the roast lamb and Andy Cloete banked 50/50 board.
The third round of two bowl twilight trips later that day was washed out and the schedueled matches will be played next Friday night. The last eight round of the drawn men’s pairs were played on Saturday, 7 February where Robert Mhlongo and Allan Moor accounted for Jorge Santos and Wayne Tonkin 24-13. Eddie Human and Noel Morel ousted Brian Osman and Rob Davies 24-10. Clinton Bisset and Dave Vincent prevailed by one shot 19-18 in a very tight game over Spider Williams and Kurt Spack. Robert now meets Eddie in the one semi-final being played between Gary Moffat and Clinton next Saturday afternoon.
Patricia Buys, as reported last week, did not play the last four of the Port Natal novices at Durban BC but plays this coming Saturday morning, 14 February. Go along and support her efforts.
On Sunday, 9 February three matches of the drawn mixed trips were decided with Spider Williams, Ronel Morel and Dawn Spack comfortably beating Daphne Reinhardt, Norman Robinson and Dave Lavis 27-6.
Robert Mhlongo, Kurt Spack and Rosa Vincent cruised to a 23-9 win over Clinton Bisset, Phyllis Maritz and Michael Schudel. In a close encounter Eddie Human, Noel Morel and Patricia Buys edged out Lilah Nel, Judy Marais and Allan Moor 14-13 which went down to the last bowl.
On Saturday, 7 February two matches of the drawn women’s pairs got the women 2015 championship started. June Foster and Paula Osman squeaked in against Dawn Spack and Patricia Buys where the match was decided by a measure with only a few millimetres in it. Daphne Reinhardt and Ronel Morel eased in against Lilah Nel and Phyllis Maritz 24-17.
Bluff BC’s Sarie Bisset and Bridget White represented Port Natal in the inter districts played over the weekend where their respective sides both won two and lost one match, which enabled Port Natal to win.
The men also won, making at a clean sweep for Port Natal. The invitations for the annual March men’s fours to be played on 14 and 15 March have gone out and all invited skips are to confirm their participation ASAP with convener Gary Moffat on 076-680-4577. Congratulations to Phyllis and Deon Maritz who became proud grandparents for the third time on Saturday, 7 February with a granddaughter who weighed in at a healthy 4.25kgs.
A collection box is in the bar where donations will be greatly appreciated towards making up a hamper which will be raffled, with the draw taking place during the prize-giving of the March men’s fours tournament.
