Two robberies in two days

Both women were at their places of work

A WOMAN was accosted by robbers on Monday, 28 March while she was at her place of work, Merebank station.

She was outside her office when she noticed two suspicious-looking men at the entrance of her office. One of them approached her, asking for information about the Crossmoor train, which she gave. He left and walked towards South Coast Road. The other man was still standing close to her. She brushed off her suspicions and continued to open her office door and entered. The man grabbed her before she closed the door and shoved her inside. “He demanded money and forced her to open the drawer where the money is kept, taking R4323,00 in cash. He left without harming the woman,” said Montclair SAPS Communications officer, Lt Dereck Vijiam.

In another robbery case, a petrol station attendant on Higginson Highway, Mobeni was targeted by robbers on Wednesday, 30 March.

According to a witness, she was serving customers at about 8pm when she saw two men enter the shop. They instructed workers and patrons to lay down on the ground. Thereafter one of them demanded that the witness open the safe but she informed him only the bankers have access. Unable to get their hands on cash, they fled with cigarettes and stole what they could from customers and staff, including cash and cellphones. They fled the scene on foot.
