A TUSSLE between a Woodlands couple and an intruder resulted in a fatal stabbing on Thursday night, 7 July.
The homeowner was asleep when he heard a noise from inside the house. He went to investigate and found a man standing in the passage. “The intruder shouted at him to lie down and pulled a knife on him,” said Montclair SAPS communications officer, Lt Dereck Vijiam. Not complying with the demands of the criminal, the man lunged forward and grabbed him.

The two fought until the man pulled the knife from the intruder and stabbed him several times. Not giving up, the injured man continued to wrestle with him while calling out for his partner to shoot. “At this time the rest of the family woke up and found the two still fighting in the kitchen. The man’s wife joined the tussle.
Finally, the suspect lost energy and fell, allowing the couple to disarm him. He later died of his injuries.
“The suspect used a bucket to climb on and gain access through a window which he forced open. The other armed suspect ran away,” added Lt Vijiam.
