A Montclair tattoo artist was astounded to find his shop had been burgled on the night of 3 July.
It is believed a duplicate key was used to gain entrance to the premises, which had been locked by the owner when he left on Friday, 1 July . The burglar walked off with R15,000 in tattoo equipment including a tattoo machine, power supply device, two cables,one-foot pedal for the tattoo machine, five tattoo tubes and a box of tattoo needles.
In another burglary case, copper and other items worth R20,000 were stolen from a business in Leicester Road, Mobeni on 4 June. The victim of the crime reportedly locked all windows and doors before leaving. When he returned with his colleague, they found the door would not open properly. He inspected the door and discovered it was tampered with and the business had been burgled.
Montclair SAPS communications officer, Lt Dereck Vijiam advises the community to install sufficient night lights. “Be part of a neighbourhood watch and try to have a security system if possible,” he added.
