THE police’s vehicle integrated team members were conducting an operation at about 6.30pm on Wednesday, 7 September, when they received information about a man in possession of unlicensed firearms.
Police proceeded to the M4 Himalayas Road off-ramp where they stopped a vehicle and conducted a search. The driver was found in possession of two firearms with ammunition and when they proceeded to his home, they seized another two pistols with ammunition.
Along with the four pistols, 23 live rounds of ammunition were also confiscated. The 33-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wentworth police station for detention. He was charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as failing to safeguard the firearms in terms of the Firearms Control Act, in the Wentworth Magistrates’ Court yesterday (8 September).
