Rock-wielding hijackers threaten woman

Two hijackers threatened her with rocks

A TERRIFIED woman ran for her life when three hijackers ambushed her while she was stationary at the robots on Himalayas Road in Mobeni at about 7.30pm on Saturday, 24 September.

The female driver heard a loud bang on the passenger side of her car, followed by the window being smashed. A man appeared at her side and demanded her to get out the vehicle. Not wanting to provoke them, she obeyed his order and got out the car.

Out of fear, she tried to run but was stopped by two hijackers who threatened her with rocks, causing her to fall to the ground. The men jumped into her car and sped off towards Lamontville, taking with them liquor worth R2,500 and other items including her bank cards and cellphone. Left behind on the street, she ran down South Coast Road until she was assisted by a taxi driver.

Montclair SAPS urges motorists to always use safe and secure routes. “Do not trust any person, do not open doors or windows for anyone that poses a threat,” said Dereck Vijiam.
