R5,000 bail for suspected drug dealer

The suspected drug dealer was still in his house when he was arrested.

FIVE thousand rand bail was granted to a 28-year-old man who was arrested on Friday, 14 October for possession of drugs in Wentworth.

Some 203 pieces of rock cocaine,18 mandrax tablets and an amount of R13,69020, suspected to be from the  proceeds of drug dealing was confiscated in a search conducted by Hawks members, Ethekwini Inner South Cluster task team and Metro Police members.

The suspected drug dealer was still in his house when he was arrested. A licensed 9mm pistol and eight live rounds of ammunition were also seized.

“The firearm will be sent for ballistic test to ascertain if it was used in the commission of crime. He appeared today, 17 October, in the Durban Magistrates’ Court and was granted bail,” said Hawks spokesman, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo.
