THE Bluff Community Policing Forum (CPF) and Community Oriented Policing (COP) urge the Bluff community to join the COP Emergency Alert Whatsapp group to make use of this free community-driven service.
A group of 30 dedicated volunteers who live on the Bluff, which includes SAPS, Metro Police and security personnel, spend many hours patrolling the area’s streets day and night.

To join the group, you need to be a Bluff resident. To join, send a WhatsApp message to 076-013-0249 with your name, address and contact number. You will receive a reply containing the rules of how the COP Emergency Alert service works. Read through it carefully.
The CPF and COP patrols is a service supported by volunteers who give their time freely to keep the suburb safe. Importantly, there is no remuneration and all expenses are borne by the volunteers themselves.

“Our call centre, situated in Bluff Road at the offices of PRSS, is manned 24/7. We are funded by businesses, residents and COP members. Without your support, we would not be able to continue this essential service. We have upgraded our communications with modern technology which incorporates cellular and radio. We are currently negotiating with our security companies to incorporate this new technology in their patrol vehicles.
Unfortunately, the WhatsApp groups are limited and have not allowed us to consolidate this service into a single group. I’m busy trying to resolve this issue,” COP’s Andy Rossell.
he added that crime on the Bluff is still very low compared to other areas, and without this service and the co-operation of all roleplayers, the suburb would have a major problem.
The CPF and COP asks the community to consider donating to the service in order to make the Bluff a safer place to live. “CPF, COP and our security companies along with SAPS are committed to ensuring your safety. Consider donating to this service as we need your support.”
