DA: Deploy anti-gang units before it’s too late [VIDEO]
Member of the KZN Provincial Legislature, Christopher Pappas, said the move comes after numerous calls from residents.
The Democratic Alliance tabled a Motion in the Provincial Parliament on Friday, 19 July calling on all parties to support the deployment of anti-gang units to parts of eThekwini.
Member of the KZN Provincial Legislature, Christopher Pappas, said the move comes after numerous calls from residents living in Sydenham, Wentworth, Newlands, Mariannridge and other suburbs currently suffering under the violence of gangs and organised crime.
“The DA has called on government to deploy specialised anti-gang units to hot spot areas in the city before the situation becomes irreversible and the army has to be called in. Instead of waiting until it is too late and then using gang violence and crime for political gain, the ANC must intervene,” said Pappas.
“As a proactive, responsive and caring party the DA will continue to fight for safer communities that are free of drugs and crime,” he added.
