Educational videos empower community
A video from the Civics Academy SA will be posted on the Bluff Community Noticeboard Facebook Page as part of the empowerment programme every week.
IN an effort to educate and empower the Bluff community and surrounds, the office of ward 66 councillor has partnered with Civics Academy SA through an educational videos initiative.
Civics Academy SA is an independent, not-for-profit online education initiative in South Africa, that covers educational content related to democracy, governance, elections, political parties, the justice system, the constitution, economics, civil society, human rights and the environment.
“As part of our commitment to empowering our community we have partnered with Civics Academy SA which aims to contribute to strengthening democratic values and practices in South Africa. They will be offering video and audio content to cultivate democracy through civic education and providing impartial and accessible information. They will enable and empower ordinary people to make informed decisions as information is key to democratic participation,” explained ward 66 councillor JP Prinsloo.
A video from the Civics Academy SA will be posted on the Bluff Community Noticeboard Facebook Page as part of the empowerment programme every week. The videos will cover a wide range of topics empowering active citizenry and highlighting citizens importance in creating a successful and strong democracy. The topics that will be covered will include, the importance of civic education, unpacking the role of a municipal councillor, the role of ward committees as well as what municipalities are and how are they structured.
“We encourage all residents to take some time and watch these interesting and entertaining videos. New videos will be available on the Bluff Community Noticeboard Facebook page every Monday at 8pm. The first video is already uploaded to the page,” shared Prinsloo.
