Street audit to shed light on Bluff safety and security
This audit forms part of the Light Me Up Campaign launched by the ward 66 committee.
PITCH black roads at nights have raised safety and security concerns for Bluff residents over the last eight months. According to ward 66 councillor, JP Prinsloo, the faulty street lights can be found on almost every single street across the Bluff, a direct result of the lack of proper planning from the city.
“While the city is struggling to identify and repair all the faulty lights on the Bluff, the ward councillor’s office and the South Durban basin will be partnering with the Electricity Department and the Bluff community to conduct a street light audit identifying all the faulty street lights across the Bluff,” said Prinsloo.
He added that this audit will form part of the Light Me Up Campaign launched by the ward 66 committee.
The success of this audit requires active participation from residents, he said. “All volunteers will meet at a central location and will be assigned specific roads to identify any faulty street lights. Let’s come together in ensuring that proper services are delivered to our community and that our families and property are kept safe,” Prinsloo added.
The street light audit will take place on Thursday, 12 September from 6.30pm to 7.30pm at the ward councillor’s office on 49 Old Mission Road, Bluff. For more inquiries, contact 031 467 0056 or 083 406 2525.
