Police put a spotlight on cervical cancer awareness
A collaboration between eThekwini Inner South Cluster EHW, Brighton Beach Corporate Communications and Human Resources Development Division allowed for female employees to be empowered on fact regarding cervical cancer.
DURING the month of October, Brighton Beach Police hosted a health and wellness initiative for female employees.
A collaboration between eThekwini Inner South Cluster EHW, Brighton Beach Corporate Communications and Human Resources Development Division allowed for female employees to be empowered on fact regarding cervical cancer.
A brochure researched and developed by Corporate Communication Officer Captain Louise Le Roux, availed a diagram explaining the parts of the women’s reproductive system. It also explained several contributing factors that can lead to cervical cancer, signs and symptoms of cervical cancer and preventative measure to minimize the risk of contracting cervical cancer.
“The objective of this health and wellness initiative was to encourage female employees to undergo regular pelvic exams and Pap test, as early detection can save lives,” said Le Roux.
Female employees also received a Women’s Network 2019 “Hope” bookmark created by Le Roux. “The objective of this bookmark was for women to find inspiration through the 10 quotes provided when they encounter days when they feel despondent,” she said. All the female employees also received a teal coloured chest ribbon to show solidarity towards those who are suffering from cervical cancer, who have passed on as a result of cervical cancer and the survivors.
Le Roux thanks her female colleagues for their participation and support towards this initiative, including her partners in the endeavour.
