Mondi donates Christmas boxes in Wentworth
Each box was for a specific child and included a pair of school shoes, an item of clothing, an age appropriate toy, sweets, biscuits and a personalised inspirational letter.
FORTY-NINE children from the Wentworth Aids Action Group (WAAG) now have a Christmas to be merry about and a very happy new year to look forward to.
On Thursday, 5 December, these children were the recipients of Christmas boxes courtesy of local based global leader in packaging and paper, Mondi. Spirits were high and smiles were beaming at St Gabriel’s Anglican Church in Wentworth at the hand over.
“Mondi is contributing to a better world, WAAG is in our focus area in terms of geographical installation. We too deal with orphaned and vulnerable children, hence we sponsored this local group. This is the second time we’ve donated Christmas boxes in this area. We normally do a project in a focus area before moving on to donate elsewhere,” said Mondi’s corporate social investment manager, Leonard Mbokazi.
The Mondi Christmas Box projects have been in existence for several years and its staff and contractors have contributed to the donation of 1 800 boxes to orphans and the vulnerable living in communities across KZN.
