Applications for police reservists now open
The closing date for applications is Friday, 28 February.
IF YOU have a crime-fighting passion and want to join the South African Police Service, now is your chance.
SAPS is inviting members of the public to join the organisation as police reservists.
All applicants will be subjected to a psychometric assessment, a medical evaluation at their own expense with a medical practitioner or doctor and an interview.
The SAPS will also verify criminal records, qualifications, driver’s license, citizenship and residential address of each applicant. Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprints verification.
Selected candidates will be invited to attend the Reservist Training Programme. The appointment as reservist will only be effected on the successful completion of prescribed training.
To see if you qualify, check the list below:
-Be a South African citizen.
-Be at least 20 years or below 50 years of age and documentary proof must be provided.
– Be medically, mentally and physically fit to perform duties as a reservist.
– Have a good and sound character for which positive background inquiries must be obtained.
– Be in possession of at least a senior certificate (Grade 12) or a National Certificate (vocational) level 4, documentary proof must be furnished.
– Speak and write at least two official languages, of which English must be one.
– Be prepared to undergo training.
– Provide proof of residence.
– Have no criminal record or any criminal or departmental cases pending.
– Have no visible or irreconcilable tattoo marks of which can be seen in uniform.
How to apply:
Complete the prescribed application form in your own handwriting. Application forms can be obtained from your nearest SAPS Recruitment Office or at your local police station or on the South African Police Service website: www.saps.gov.za.
Application forms are not for sale and any payment offered by an applicant or promises provided in this regard will be investigated and may lead to criminal prosecution.
– Ensure you sign your application form in front of the commissioner of oaths.
– Attach certified copies of your ID document and driver’s licence.
-Matric or a senior certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualifications.
– Additional qualifications are also to be certified.
– Proof of residence.
– Proof of permanent employment, those who are employed in other sectors, companies or institutions.
– Submit two colour ID photographs, one of which must be attached on the prescribed application form.
