Disappointing behavior by ex councillor [LETTER]

Our community newspaper should not be used as a platform to fight personal battles.

EDITOR – Duncan du Bois was councillor of ward 66 for several years before he lost to the now very active JP Prinsloo.
Sadly, as a resident I did not see any improvements in my community under Duncan’s leadership, contrary to the evidence I have witnessed since the beginning of JP’s term – road signs and markings, resident street meetings, addressing the needs of vulnerable community members and so on.
It is disappointing to note that Du Bois looks for every opportunity to take a swipe at JP in the public arena. Our community newspaper should not be used as a platform to fight personal battles. JP is doing good or at least trying to, and any input from a senior predecessor should be in the form of personal, private mentorship and sharing of experience, rather than an effort to make him look inept in the public eye.
You should have done more to leave a positive legacy Du Bois.
Refrain from throwing ice water on your successor’s efforts to do good for our community.
FRUSTRATED RESIDENT
